Description:

This flame resistant oven glove is flexible, provides all fingers grip, can withstand extreme heat and even an occasional flame. Perfect for indoor/outdoor use, for the oven, grill, stovetop, barbecue. Made of Aramid on the exterior and a double knit cotton on the interior, this mitt fits like a glove. Do not use wet as water would transmit heat to the inside of the glove. Aramid is a man made textile with amazing heat protection characteristics. It is used by race car drivers, astronauts, fire fighters as well as jet fighter pilots whose survival depends not only on skills, but also proper equipment. Although aramid could burn when a flame is held up to it, the glove will stop burning as soon as the heat source is removed, which illustrate its flame resistant property. Aramid arranged in a thick woven structure is also a poor conductor of heat, which makes it the perfect oven glove material. Machine washable, dry flat, do not bleach.

  • Same material used by fire fighters

  • Maintains integrity and strength at high temperatures

  • Thermal regulating

  • Ambidextrous, fits right or left hand

5Wife was a bit afraid, but quickly adapted...  Jan 03, 2011
By G. Possert "Gary747"
These "hot" gloves fit like most regular gloves, and there-in lies the rub. One would not grab a hot oven dish with regular, snowball throwing gloves, and that's what it felt like. But with some "build-up", from warm to hotter plates, my wife worked up to a confidence level where she now prefers these Oven Gloves. They are not as bulky as classic mitts. They work fine, but are kinda thin, so you wouldn't want to just hold a 400 degree dish while watching the end of NCIS. You can take it out of the oven and move it to the counter without problem.

5Incredible protection without losing grip  Feb 08, 2011
By Patrice Bonnefoi
My mom gave me 2 of these gloves for Christmas. I have to admit that I was a little skeptical at first as the gloves seem to be very thin. I am used to my cumbersome but protective mitts when I barbecue, so far they've done the trick, but it is very difficult to properly manipulate all of the barbecue tools with a mitt.
The gloves allow very easy handling of forks, flat spatulas, tongs and brushes. Oiling the meat with a brush is no challenge with these gloves on, no chance of dropping anything.
From a heat protection stand point, my first fears were quickly gone when I tried to slide one of the bbq grids, after it was lit for 15 minutes. The metal was certainly very hot, but the glove had more than enough insulation to let me do the job without taking the heat. It feels weird at first as you barely can feel the glove on your skin, but the protection is there.
In addition to resistance to burn, the very thick cotton mesh liner seem to make the glove resistant to cuts as well. In fact I am now slicing the meat with the gloves on, which saved some skin already.
The light color is nice but they can become dirty quickly. I brushed off most of the residues after it dried, but eventually I will have to wash the gloves. The good news is that unlike flame retardants, these can be washed without losing their properties.
Hands down, my number one pick hand saver all around the kitchen.

5Best Oven Mitt  Sep 16, 2010
By G. Abraham
I received this as a gift about 2 years ago and still use it daily! It has held up well even with daily use. I feel very little heat when using it. Since getting mine, my sister-in-law and mother now have one too. I highly recommend this product for those who cook often and for those who barely cook!

5No more burns  Aug 26, 2011
By S. Hamilton
I'd tried virtually every sort of potholder, oven mitt, etc. but no matter what I tried I'd always ended up with random singes on the tops of my hands from oven racks, burnt thumbs from the hole to supposedly hang up my bulky silicone potholders and as I've gotten older and cook with a lot of heavy cookware I've worried about having a good grip on these pots when I'm trying to lift them in and out of the oven or on and off the stove. So I was looking for something that would let me use my hands normally, be flexible and provide protection.

These gloves are perfect. I just love them...they slip on easily (no fumbling), cover your hands completely (no more burning the tops of my hands when reaching between oven racks), and they are really flexible so I can get a good grip when lifting heavy casserole, roasting pans and dutch ovens out of the oven or turning breads, pizza, muffins, cookies, etc. half way through baking to ensure even cooking, pull oven racks in and out, and flipping kebab skewers on the grill easily. I love that unlike bulky mitts or stiff silicone potholders you get an independent all finger dexterous grip...like having burn-proof hands and they are truly flame resistant unlike those bulky old mitts and potholders.

Each glove is sold separately (one to a package) since at my age strength was an issue and I have two hands I bought two of these great gloves (sort of pricy but definitely worth it). No worries about left or right as the glove works on either hand.

There is one caveat while they can virtually give you protection against any item heated up to 450 degrees and flame flare-ups the gloves must be kept DRY...no plunging them into boiling cauldrons as hot liquids would penetrate the mesh fiber of the gloves so I'll repeat the manufacturer's warning "Do not use wet as water would transmit heat to the inside of the glove".

3The gloves are ok but...  Nov 02, 2011
By cem
I bought these gloves to give to my daughter, a 15 year old who is extremely afraid of the oven, for a gift. However once I saw them I knew full well that she wouldn't wear them because they are ENORMOUS on my small hands and knew they'd be the same for her. I debated sending them back, but my husband saw them and said they'd be perfect for camping and using with the dutch oven. We haven't used them yet, but I know that they'll work fine for our new purpose. I'll have to update this again later after using it for the dutch oven.
